   What if I got Optima basic model and want to measure surface energy and surface tension of substrate/liquid - do I need to buy mentioned software from You (AST) of it's freely available?

   Yes, you would need to purchase our upgrade software in order to calculate the surface energy and surface tension of your substrate/liquid. This new software would allow you to perform the full range of features that our VCA Optima XE model offers, including:

   - Manual contact angle calculation
   - Image save & export
   - AutoFAST contact angle calculation
   - Statistical process control analysis software
   - Dynamic-2500 software (dynamic capture)
   - SE-2500 surface energy software
   - PDAST surface tension software
   - DataView software

   So just for curiosity - the physical (not software part) difference between basic and XE model is only in automated syringe?
