What is the smallest measurement your VCA Optima can record and is it capable of measuring contact angle over time?

Apologies for the late response. The VCA Optima™ can measure down to .01 microliters.
To answer your second question, our VCA Optima XE™ is equipped with a Dynamic Capture feature that captures images up to 60 frames/second for dynamic and time-based contact angle analysis. This allows for movie viewing of timed-interval image capture.

I'm having touble with advancing and receding angle measurements and didn't find help in the help software. When I attempt to use the withdraw option--the syringe needle leaves the droplet and travels up the syringe tubing, and I cannot complete the receding angle measurement. How can I overcome this issue?

1) In order to measure advancing and receding angles properly with the VCA Optima™, you would also need our Tilting Base apparatus which is described here: http://www.astp.com/contact-angle/vca-optima-accessories
2) One of the reasons that the droplet is traveling up the needle could be due to low room humidity. Also, try cleaning the needle with IPA.

Thanks, actually the issue was the liquid wet the metal too easily, and so I used a cap tubing (teflon) to alleviate this wicking effect (just fyi).
